Things To Do
One of the North Shore’s most peaceful communities is fraught with opportunities for outdoor recreation. The Chicago Botanic Garden features 27 spectacularly maintained gardens across 385 acres, home to millions of flowers and plants of several different varieties. Nearby, the pleasures of Lake Michigan are enjoyed on Glencoe Beach, where visitors can rent boats to enjoy endless summer days on the lake. In addition to boating, swimming, laying out, and picnicking are popular beachfront activities. The Skokie Lagoons are another premier destination for aqua explorations, fishing, and canoeing on 894 acres. Other quiet days can be enjoyed on the paved Green Bay Trail, stretching across just over two miles, running parallel to the Metra rail line.
