Old-fashioned family fun and pleasures are abundant in Northbrook. One of the region’s most popular and longstanding ice cream parlors boasts a location right in the heart of Northbrook. For over 145 years, Graeter's Ice Cream has been scooping up handcrafted French pot ice cream for the people of the Midwest. Their signature raspberry chocolate chip ice cream is a longtime favorite, in addition to a rotating selection of limited edition delights such as chocolate coconut almond, birthday cake, and many others.
Just across the way, Village Green Park is a 10-acre site for hiking, biking, and afternoons spent on the playground. Village Green Park is home to many sporting fields and a baseball/softball diamond, which hosts Little League games. Concerts in the park are also favorite events among community members. Not far away, Techny Prairie Park and Fields contain a nine-hole golf course, turf fields for soccer and lacrosse, baseball diamonds and batting cages, fishing, a 22,000-square foot skate park, and much more.
Northbrook Court is the community’s premier shopping destination featuring a Neiman Marcus, 14-screen AMC theater, Apple Store, and many other nationally recognized essential and luxury brands. Northbrook Court also features a few dining options and hosts events throughout the year such as visits with Santa, holiday wonderlands, in-store demos, and other festive shopping events.
Things To Do
The community of Northbrook frequently hosts events to mark the changing seasons, like the annual Northbrook Days Summer Carnival. A festive celebration commemorating summer’s warmer months provides fun for attendees of all ages with carnival rides and games, live music, food, beer, and wine. From Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, a neighborhood block party is held in someone’s driveway on Flamingo Fridays. The pink flamingos appear each Friday around 6 PM as an open invite for all community members to bring a lawn chair and settle in to enjoy the company of friendly neighbors. Throughout the year, other events looked forward to by all include community trick-or-treating and Fourth of July fireworks.
